MYS Sinfonietta Notes - Oct 24

What we did (Oct 21)

We spent a little time on Saint-Saëns and Bernstein during the first half of rehearsal. I feel like the ensemble is really coming together! We're starting to achieve a good orchestral sound, accuracy is improving, and the music is starting to really come alive! I'm proud of everybody for your hard work.

We spent the second half of rehearsal reading and working on our new piece, Strauss Jr.'s Tritsch Tratsch Polka. I'm convinced we can play this at our concert, so, please practice it this week! (along with the rest of the music).

Rehearsal plan for October 28

It's sectionals week!

Strings will work with Jennifer Arnold from the Oregon Symphony. Jennifer is a spectacular viola player and passionate educator. Read her bio here.

Winds and brass will work with Nate Helgeson. Nate is a bassoonist with Portland Baroque Orchestra and several other ensembles across the entire USA. Read this review about Nate's playing. OR Arts Watch calls him a "boss bassoonist" :)

I will be out at the Symphony Orchestra retreat this Saturday, and will be back the following Saturday. I will be at all remaining rehearsals.

Enjoy working with these two excellent coaches! Make sure to practice your individual parts!

Jennifer Arnold, Viola

Nate Helgeson, Bassoon
