Notes:
We were able to get through all three pieces, and the read-throughs were signs of good things to come.
Metronome marks for your practicing:
Rossini (see my previous post here)
Ponchielli:
Beginning (moderato): quarter = 72
[#10]: still at quarter = 72
[#61] (moderato): quarter = 64ish. Music stays around the same tempo until the fast section.
[#223]: quarter = 160 (or half note = 80), until the end of the piece
Berlioz:
Beginning: dotted half = 80 (in 1)
Andante sostenuto: quarter = 52
Tempo I: dotted half = 80
Tchaikovsky:
Beginning (Andate un poco rubato): eight note = 132
m. 94 (Pochissimo piu mosso): dotted quarter = 58
m. 180 (Allegro moderato): quarter = 126
m. 255 (Andante): eight note = 132
m. 291 (Presto): dotted half = 86 (in one!)
m. 455 (Allegro moderato): dotted half = 58
m. 499 (Presto): dotted half = 86 (in one!)
m. 549 (Piu Presto): dotted half = 92!
m. 573: half = 92 to the end.
Next rehearsal (9.22.18)
1st half: sectionals (each brass section separately, all woodwinds together, all strings together)
2nd half:
Read-through of Jake Safirstein's piece "Orpheus and Euridice"
Work on Rossini, Ponchielli, Berlioz or Tchaikovsky (TBD)
