I am passionate about building community and creating joy through my work as an orchestral conductor, violinist/violist, educator, radio producer and public speaker. Here's some stuff kind folks have said about me:

 

Lauded as a “visionary conductor” (Oregon ArtsWatch), Raúl inspires audiences and artists of all ages and backgrounds to use music as a vehicle for connecting with others.  As Music Director of the Metropolitan Youth Symphony in Portland, Oregon, Raúl “creates concert programs that any forward-looking orchestra should envy." (Willamette Week), and leads a team of 12 conductors serving over 500 students in 14 ensembles.

Starting in 2020, I joined All Classical Portland as a Contributing Host and Producer for "On Deck with Young Musicians," a program that features interviews with young musicians in the Portland area. Also, I'm proud to serve on the Board of Directors of Third Angle New Music.
