Next Stop: Mexico!!

Hello everybody! After a fun run of concerts with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (this one, this one and a private function last week), it's time to pack again! This time I will be flying down to Aguascalientes, Mexico, to conduct a concert and give masterclasses at the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes. This invitation was made possible in part thanks to the YOA Orchestra of the Americas Global Leaders program, where I serve as a mentor. The program we will be performing includes two pieces by Mexican composer José Pablo Moncayo, whose Huapango is often performed by many orchestras around the world. The two pieces we'll do, however, are Sinfonietta (1945) and Tierra de Temporal (1949). Studying these pieces has opened my eyes to the genius of Moncayo. If you don't know them, they are linked below. I recommend that you give them a listen. So, if you happen to be in the Aguascalientes/Leon/Guanajuato area on November 19, come out to our concert at the UAA. Program also includes Beethoven's Egmont Overture and J.S. Bach's concerto for oboe and violin BWV 1060. Cheers and WHO DAT!
